New insights into cell longevity could boost research in age-related diseases
Brain cells can live forever, but what about other cells in the body? Salk Institute scientists examined the brains, livers and pancreases of mice and discovered very old cells in those organs, too. Understanding the mechanisms of aging in those cells could lead to new therapies for diabetes, dementia and other age-related diseases, they believe.
