LEGO is Making New Sustainable Plant Bricks out of Sugarcane

LEGO plants made from REAL plants!

LEGO has just produced a set of LEGO plants made from REAL plants! Having seen the ability to drive a new market and become more sustainable customers will now have access to REAL plant based LEGO sets!

According to Business Insider:

From August 1, they'll be available to customers in selected countries...Elements of the set will also appear in other sets of blocks over the course of 2018, according to Business Insider Polska.

The new LEGO plants are made of 98% polyethylene, made from sugar cane. A substitution that not only makes them more sustainable, but less harmful as a downstream waste.

At the LEGO Group we want to make a positive impact on the world around us, and are working hard to make great play products for children using sustainable materials.

While other LEGO bricks are still made of non biodegradable plastics, this is an amazing step in the creating a greener alternative that is biodegradable. Kudos to LEGO, let's see more alternative sets!

This is an amazing showcase of sustainable products and fundamentally caring for our environment.

In a environment where plastics are continuously coming up in the news as bad, causing adverse health outcomes with BPA and its alternatives being examined extensively, there is little room for the LEGO Group to not think strategically about this issue.

Who better to go green in all that they do than LEGO. How cool would it be to have all biodegradable LEGOs that kids could take outside or that on a grander scale could be used for development worldwide. The possibilities truly are endless.

Reality Changing Observations:

Q1. How do you see companies creating a positive impact in society?

Q2. Does your buying behavior change if you know something is "green"?

Q3. If you had your choice which LEGO set would be next?
