Man Who Killed Woman In His Basement Said He Thought God Would Resurrect Her

William James

Daniel Kenning strangled Jennifer Lee in his basement.

Kenning, told authorities he was acting on God’s orders, and that God promised him that she would be resurrected.

According to the complaint, Kenning told police he had met the women “previously at a wedding and that they had recently communicated on Facebook Messenger”.

In a statement to an investigator, Kenning said:

> “He had picked the woman up the night before and driven her to his home.” He told police he had “tied (the woman’s) legs and handcuffed her arms to a table.”

> He then admitted to intentionally strangling the woman “with one hand until she died.”

Kenning told police that he was “supposed to” kill Lee during a the previous weekend, but “could not do it at that time.”

As reported by Patheos, he has been charged with one count of second-degree intentional murder.

Kenning's attorney may ask for a reduced sentence or even argue that his client is insane.

Hub Levandowski, who lives across the street from a house where authorities say the body of a 45-year-old Blaine woman was found Saturday, said,

“Shocked is the right word, I guess.” All of his neighbors said Kenning’s home was quiet and well-kept.

Kenning faces a maximum sentence of 40 years’ imprisonment.
